Summer Semester in Peru Academics, Service Work, and Adventure ProPeru and Jacksonville University's program combines classroom and in the field study of Peru's culture and history, immersive Spanish, a hands-on community service development project, cross cultural interaction and homestay living, and exploration of Peru. Guided tours of Incan ruins, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and traditional festivals compliment the academics and development work. Program Overview
Session 1 June 7 to July 5, 6 credits total Intensive Spanish, 3 credits Special Issues in Development Work, 3 credits Session 2 July 5 to August 2, 6 credits total Intensive Spanish, 3 credits History, Art, and Architecture of Peru, 3 credits Development Project Projects may include building a school, constructing a fish farm, or installing clean burning stoves. The final projects will be selected by Site Directors based on community need Excursions Hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Sacred Valley Incan Ruins Major Incan Ruins around Cusco Cultural presentations and community festivals Cost $3,695 plus airfare Enroll by February 28 for a $200 discount Join both sessions for $6,695 Program fees do not include: international airfare, passport or visa fees, textbooks, insurance, independent travel during the program, or personal expenses.
